Our worship service for Sunday 18th December 2022
Series: Advent 2022 – Week 4
Today’s message: The Branch – Clothed in Majesty
Our reading: Zechariah 6:9-15
Speaker: Derek Robinson
This week I’ve borrowed a quote form Ruth Carter Stapleton, “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” Food for thought. Is there someone you need to contact? No one wants to home alone at Christmas. If you are celebrating Christmas with your friends and family this year, why not invite someone who is alone to join you?
George Elliot once wrote, “The important work of moving the world forward does not wait to be done by perfect men.” The same is true about us sharing the Gospel. If we wait until the timing is perfect and we have developed a perfect plan, then we will never get started. Jesus told us “To go and make disciples…”. What are we waiting for?
This week, why not set aside some time to praise the Lord for all He has done for us already? Then say to Him, “Speak, Lord. I am listening.”
Are you feeling tired and overwhelmed? Then if you are, Jesus says to you today, ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11:28). So what are you waiting for?
This week I was challenged by this quote by Charles Spurgeon, “The greatest joy of a Christian is to give joy to Christ.” This set me thinking. How can I bring joy to God? I think we may find the answer in Matthew 28:19-20. We have our instructions, so we really have no excuse for not obeying them.
