Theme: That you should know

Part 9 – Final Instructions

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. In this week’s sermon we are reach the conclusion of our series, That you should know, based on 1 John. In today’s passage, John warns us clearly to beware of “false news” and “false claims”. Throughout this letter John wants believers everywhere to concentrate on the words of Jesus and the messages from the Apostles who lived alongside Jesus throughout His ministry. John wants us to know the truth. Only if we have surrendered our lives to Jesus and asked for His forgiveness can we be sure that we have eternal life. John says there is no other way. We certainly hope you find this service both challenging and inspiring. Derek

Theme: Weaving and Unweaving – The Return

Welcome

This weekend we continue with our dual approach to morning worship – at church and online. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. Today’s service will also include communion. This week the title of my sermon will be “Weaving and unweaving – the Return” based on Isaiah 43:18-21. You may possibly remember that when I preached here for the first time, I preached on Isaiah 42:8-9 and, as part of this talk, I gave a prophetic word about weaving and unweaving. In that talk I talked about the need to unpick or unweave certain things, so that new things can replace them as we are directed by God. Today, I feel led to return to this idea especially as this approach will be necessary when we come out of the present restrictions. Simon.

Today: Faith in the Son of God

Welcome

Thank you for joining us for what is an unusual way of “doing” church. We trust that the online service offered here will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. In spite of what is going on at the moment, this is a time for personal growth and getting closer to God, and so our prayer is that you and your family will know Him and His great peace, in all things. This week Clive Bennett, who is one of our members, is leading our worship and study. In our study we will be considering, from 1 John 5: 1-12, what it means for us to know that we know that we know that we have faith in the Son of God and to have real assurance of eternal life. Clive

“Therefore, we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal”.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Theme: In His hand

Welcome

This weekend we are re-opening the church for morning worship – albeit with social distancing and restricted numbers of around 30. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. This week the title of my sermon will be “In His hand” based on John 10:22-31. Just as a shepherd protects his sheep, Jesus protects His people from eternal harm. While believers can expect to suffer whilst on earth, Satan cannot harm their souls or take away their eternal life with God. There are many reasons to be afraid here on earth because this is the devil’s domain. But, if you choose to follow Jesus, He will give you eternal safety and no one can snatch you out of His hands. Simon

Today message: God’s love – 1 John 4:7-21

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. As we continue with our journey through 1 John, Simon moves into chapter 4 as he talks to us about God’s love. Now clearly everyone believes that love is important, but love is usually thought of as a feeling. In reality, love is a choice and an action. God is the source of our love; after all He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us. God’s love explains why He created people to love. God’s love explains why He cares even for sinful people. God’s love explains why He has given us to freedom to make choices – even choices that take people away from Him. God’s love explains why Jesus had to die in our place – and all God wants in return is for us to love Him.
