Welcome to our midweek worship service. This week things are quite a bit different as we invited you to contribute to this service. Although we still can’t all meet together on a Sunday due health concerns in this pandemic, today’s service will give you the chance to hear and see some people you may not have seen for quite a while. The Bible is very clear that life rarely runs smoothly and that we will all have ups and downs as well as times of clarity and confusion. Nevertheless, God’s presence is constant in all of our lives and He is worthy of our praise, thanksgiving and worship – no matter what is happening. I have tried to set out the service differently this week and you will only need to click on the following link and everything should flow smoothly. Well that’s the theory. Derek.
Thank you for joining us for our online church service this Sunday which is running in parallel with a partial re-opening of our church at ABC under COVID restrictions. We trust that for those of you unable to attend the service at the church, this online service will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. In spite of what is going on at the moment, this is a time for personal growth and getting closer to God, and so our prayer is that you and your family will know Him and His great peace, in all things. This week, why not think back to when you benefited from the hospitality of others, particularly from Christian brothers and sisters. Thank God for these acts of kindness. Why not do likewise this week?
Welcome to our midweek worship service. In this week’s sermon we are reach the conclusion of our series, That you should know, based on 1 John. In today’s passage, John warns us clearly to beware of “false news” and “false claims”. Throughout this letter John wants believers everywhere to concentrate on the words of Jesus and the messages from the Apostles who lived alongside Jesus throughout His ministry. John wants us to know the truth. Only if we have surrendered our lives to Jesus and asked for His forgiveness can we be sure that we have eternal life. John says there is no other way. We certainly hope you find this service both challenging and inspiring. Derek
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6
In a world frequently dominated by “false news”, why not praise God for someone you know who is honest and true. Pray too for wisdom about living in a world where truth is becoming a rare commodity.
This weekend we continue with our dual approach to morning worship – at church and online. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. Today’s service will also include communion. This week the title of my sermon will be “Weaving and unweaving – the Return” based on Isaiah 43:18-21. You may possibly remember that when I preached here for the first time, I preached on Isaiah 42:8-9 and, as part of this talk, I gave a prophetic word about weaving and unweaving. In that talk I talked about the need to unpick or unweave certain things, so that new things can replace them as we are directed by God. Today, I feel led to return to this idea especially as this approach will be necessary when we come out of the present restrictions. Simon.

This weekend we are re-opening the church for morning worship – albeit with social distancing and restricted numbers of around 30. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. This week the title of my sermon will be “In His hand” based on John 10:22-31. Just as a shepherd protects his sheep, Jesus protects His people from eternal harm. While believers can expect to suffer whilst on earth, Satan cannot harm their souls or take away their eternal life with God. There are many reasons to be afraid here on earth because this is the devil’s domain. But, if you choose to follow Jesus, He will give you eternal safety and no one can snatch you out of His hands. As we partially return to worshipping in church this Sunday, why not give thanks to the successive generations of Christians who have met in this place over the years to worship the King of Kings? It’s good to know their legacy lives on.
