This week spend a few minutes reflecting on this quote by C S Lewis, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” Is that how your see life? If not, why not?
This weekend we will be opening up the baptistry as Mohsen and Mitra go through the waters. Thus following in Jesus’ own footsteps. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him: (Matthew 13:16).
This week, whatever you are going through, try to remember to ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.’ (Psalm 136). That is definitely worth remembering.
This week why not think about what talents and resources God has entrusted to you. Are you using them in the way God intended? If not, why not?
Do you have trouble getting started in the morning? If so, here is a top tip. When you wake up, thank God for the new day and remember, no matter what you have to face, God will never let you down because His love is unconditional.
Jonathan Edwards made two New Year’s resolution over 350 years ago, which we would do well to adopt in 2023.
Resolution One: I will live for God.
Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.
At the start of a new year, why not make a resolution to live your life in a way that brings glory to God? This is one New Year’s resolution that we really should try to keep!
This week I’ve borrowed a quote form Ruth Carter Stapleton, “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” Food for thought. Is there someone you need to contact? No one wants to home alone at Christmas. If you are celebrating Christmas with your friends and family this year, why not invite someone who is alone to join you?
George Elliot once wrote, “The important work of moving the world forward does not wait to be done by perfect men.” The same is true about us sharing the Gospel. If we wait until the timing is perfect and we have developed a perfect plan, then we will never get started. Jesus told us “To go and make disciples…”. What are we waiting for?
