Sunday Worship 11th October 2020

Theme: In His hand

Welcome

This weekend we are re-opening the church for morning worship – albeit with social distancing and restricted numbers of around 30. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. This week the title of my sermon will be “In His hand” based on John 10:22-31. Just as a shepherd protects his sheep, Jesus protects His people from eternal harm. While believers can expect to suffer whilst on earth, Satan cannot harm their souls or take away their eternal life with God. There are many reasons to be afraid here on earth because this is the devil’s domain. But, if you choose to follow Jesus, He will give you eternal safety and no one can snatch you out of His hands. Simon

Today message: God’s love – 1 John 4:7-21

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. As we continue with our journey through 1 John, Simon moves into chapter 4 as he talks to us about God’s love. Now clearly everyone believes that love is important, but love is usually thought of as a feeling. In reality, love is a choice and an action. God is the source of our love; after all He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us. God’s love explains why He created people to love. God’s love explains why He cares even for sinful people. God’s love explains why He has given us to freedom to make choices – even choices that take people away from Him. God’s love explains why Jesus had to die in our place – and all God wants in return is for us to love Him.

I hope that the online service offered here will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. In spite of what is going on at the moment, this is a time for personal growth and getting closer to God, and so my prayer is that you and your family will know him and his great peace, in all things. Part 6 – Love one another

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. In this week’s sermon we are simply challenged to “love one another.” Well that sounds pretty simple doesn’t it. In which case why is it an ongoing theme throughout John’s letters. Just maybe, it isn’t as easy as it sounds – especially if we add a few more words – we are to love one another as Jesus loved us. Now that sounds much more difficult – and it is! We certainly hope you find this service both challenging and inspiring. Derek

Theme: Jesus is the Bread of Life

Welcome

Welcome to a rather unusual Harvest service. As you know, at least for the moment, we are still unable to meet together in church but we are really pleased that lots of you were able to contribute to this online service. In this service we will celebrating both the wonder of God’s creation and that Jesus really is the bread of life. The bread of God sent down from heaven to give life to this world. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” In response, just as the disciples did, we say, “Lord Jesus, give us this bread.”

Welcome

Thank you for joining us for what is an unusual way of “doing” church. We trust that the online service offered here will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. This week Clive Bennett, who is one of our members, is continuing with our series on 1 John with an inspiring passage that will lift your  spirit in the midst of the continued difficulties with social distancing  as we recognise that as Children of God we are always part of his family and are never separated from his grace and love.

The Anti-Christian Spirit

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek service in the 26th week of COVID19 restrictions. When this started back in March, I don’t think any of us thought these restrictions would go on for so long. It is frustrating for all of us but we urge you to remain vigilant as the number of reported cases is beginning to rise again – even in our area. Of course, these restrictions have given us all an opportunity to show Christian love to our neighbours as we are now allowed to meet in groups of six. Please don’t waste this God given opportunity to draw closer to your neighbours and show the beauty of Christian love in action – perhaps over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Simon

Theme: Knowing you, knowing me!

Welcome

Welcome to our weekend service where I will be tackling a challenging passage that involves the end times as revealed by Matthew in chapters 24 and 25 of his Gospel.. Although we didn’t plan this together, my talk today follows closely on from Derek’s talk in midweek where he asked, “How can you be sure of your salvation?” Perhaps God is trying to tell us something very specific at this difficult time. I also feel that God has given me a prophetic word directly related to the passage which I will be sharing with you. Although we still can’t worship together in person, I feel that God is talking very clearly to His church in these times about what is to come. We need to be prepared. Simon

Welcome

It is frustrating for all of us but we urge you to remain vigilant as the number of reported cases is beginning to rise again – even in our area. Of course, these restrictions have given us all an opportunity to show Christian love to our neighbours as we are now allowed to meet as two households. Please don’t waste this God given opportunity to draw closer to your neighbours and show the beauty of Christian love in action – perhaps over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Derek.
